DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THE WORK HAPPY 100

By Cianan Clancy

Employment in Ireland is at a 10 year high and the options available for employees is as good as ever. Independent Jobs, which is powered by Jobbio will announce the ‘Work Happy 100’ winners during the Dublin Tech Summit. Simply put, it’s a scheme that looks to recognise companies that are doing their best to provide a happy and balanced environment for their staff. Let’s have a look in more detail.

HOW DID COMPANIES GET SHORTLISTED?

Nominations were open to anyone until February 21st meaning entrance was accessible to pretty much everyone. If you work for a company who you think deserve to be considered but missed the boat then don’t worry, simply bookmark this page and come back next time.

SO ONLY ONE CAN WIN IT THEN?

Actually, there are four different categories. One is tailored towards graduate schemes and the other three are split depending on business size – small, medium and large. There is an index that helps define motivation factors rather than focussing on just one element; after all, different people are inspired in different ways and money isn’t everything.

WHO HAS THE CASTING VOTE?

The nominees will be passed to a judging panel who will review each case before deciding on the victors from each category. The judges are Dublin Tech Summit CEO Will Brightling, Lauren Buckley and Grace O’Rourke, who co-founded Balanced.

I GUESS IT’S JUST PRIDE AT STAKE?

You’d be wrong. Very wrong. The prizes are packaged in three parts; two for the winning company and one for the employee who submitted the clinching nomination. The employee will receive a reward of €1,000, which isn’t too shabby simply for being happy at work and telling people about it. The company earns a €25,000 Jobbio package and a full feature inside the Irish Independent pull out ‘The Happy 100’. That’s publicity that you can’t put a price on.
