One of the issues I have always had with traveling is knowing when to leave for the airport. By the time I have checked traffic, ordered an UBER, checked in for my flight, I have already wasted time on three different apps. Not to mention the fact that I have no idea how long it will take me to get through the airport and to my gate on any given day.
Great solutions always start with big problems, and this was no different. With Dublin Airport installing iBeacons across the airport, there must be a better way to get information to travellers. With the AIRPORTN App you will not only know security waiting times ahead of time, but you will also be able to see how each line is trending, and how long it will take you to clear the line. The AIRPORTN App also calculates the total time from your current location to your boarding gate, including UBER travel time, security waiting time, and estimated walk time to your gate. Boom. Simple and effective. AIRPORTN was completed in 6 hours as part of the Dublin Airport Hackathon. Unfortunately Dublin Airport has denied my request for commercial access to their iBeacon network which is very disappointing. I await to see what they will do in the area with their own solution in the future.
